Former PDP national chair, ex-deputy gov, commissioners endorse Ugwuanyi for second term
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Enugu North Senatorial Zone at the weekend endorsed Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for a second term ahead of the 2019 general election.
The endorsement was announced by the commissioner for Enugu capital territory, Mr. Chidi Aro at the expanded meeting of the party attended by about 5000 party supporters at Igboetiti Local Government Area headquarters of the state was supported by former deputy governor, Mr. Okechukwu Itayi and commissioner for Education, Prof. Uche Eze respectively.
They added that their decision for the endorsement of Governor Ugwuanyi for second term was after their assessments of the governor’s achievements in all the local governments in the state in two years.
“As former deputy governor of the state, we all in the zone are delighted that the Governor Ugwuanyi within two years has positively touched the lives of people of the state in every aspect.
“We are satisfied with his performance in the area of road infrastructure, education, health care, payment of salary of civil servants as well as youth empowerment. “I hereby support that Ugwuanyi remain the sole governorship candidate of the zone in 2019,” he said.
In a remark the former governor of Enugu state and National Chairman of PDP, Dr. Okwesileze Nwodo said he supported the second term endorsement of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.He said, “Ugwuanyi has done very well, I endorse him as governor for 2019 as well as urge every other Nsukka man to do the same.
“Other zones in Enugu State have ruled for eight years, this is the turn of Nsukka zone and Governor Ugwuanyi has done well so he should continue in office,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the governor, Sen. Chukwuka Utazi, who is representing Enugu North in the senate, commended party members for their support and endorsement of the governor for 2019.
“I commend all of you from Enugu North for your unalloyed support particularly for endorsing the governor for second term.
Dignities present include, House of Representatives members for Igboeititi/Uzo-Uwani and Nsukka/Igboeze-South Federal constituencies.
