Who commands more respect and more influence: Actors or actresses?

The movie industry in Nigeria, popularly called Nollywood, is filled with different controversies that have been circulated in the media and in social circles in town. Many referred to Nollywood as the most scandalous industry in the entertainment sector, especially with the activities of most of the actresses and actor.

In this write up by AJIBADE ALABI takes a look at both sexes and asks: Who commands more respect and more influence: Actors or actresses? At the end of the write up it is very sure opinion will be divided but that is natural. The write up is of writer opinion and so everybody is entitled to his or her opinion.

Our country, Nigeria, like many other African countries, is a morality-preaching and decency-teaching ecosystem. The decline in the instillation of the culture of modesty and chastity, which has always been considered paramount until the advent and sweep of technology in the entertainment stratum, is becoming more disturbing.

When artistes started painting picture of seminude African women, the society tolerated the development and controlled the flow granting its accessibility only to a select audience.

Then, magazines correspondents and cartoonists entered into the scene, introducing soft porn and caricatured depictions of half and fully naked women which soon became the mainstream.

While there were little or no cameras, theatrical plays usually were done on the stage to be viewed by a live and sitting audience.

In all these we have the major characters who are actors and actress, beyond the above stated influence and other virtual seen actions no one could take away the influence and commands of what this profession has brought to a lot of home either way they are inevitable in our day to day activities.

But the question on ground here is among the actors and actresses who command more respect and more influence among them. Either negative influence or what it is glaring obvious that the lady in the movie industry commands it more depending on the side where one view it

The actresses with their faces adored the four walls of films industry in Nigeria, these thespians of reckoned have brought glamour and pannache into the movie industry in called Nollywood.

When they aren’t in front of the cameras acting out their roles, they are within the confines of their various homes acting out the natural roles of being mothers to their biological offspring.

Just as they have made a success out of their acting careers, they have so successfully set a standard worthy of emulation as mothers whom some people openly or secretly adored as the one who have influence their life and whom they respect a lot.

Although some of them may not be of good example
Take for instance an actress showcasing her b**bs and b*tts in a movie video will attract more influence among some set of people who will see her as a sexy actress and put it side by side by an actor who dress in a corporate way in the same film show.

Though some married women will rather allow their husband to watch the “ decent “ scene of the man than the “ugly” scene of the actress who bare it all.

But the fact remains if there is any one of them that will attract more influence it will be the actress that is where the the difference between influence and respect come in. one could command a respect but may not be of any influence.

The actresses by virtue of their physical advantage have more influence as far as viewer and marketing is concerned compare to their males counterparts.

Commanding respect is another thing entirely one might asked what influence or respect or message an actress who bare it all could be on a family or a society other than decadence and immorality. But one should not take it away that our society loves to see the scene but we only pretend as if it was a dirty scene to behold.

Not too long ago, the media went abuzz over a controversial Nollywood actress and busty video vixen, Cossy Orjiakor, and her narration of how her b**bs fell out of her bra and how a male passerby helped her repack it, plus that she would not breastfeed her children but suck out the milk for them using a sucker.

Privately a lot of men who love her and will gladly invite her to their party for the fact that they will boost to their colleagues and friend that “ I was the one who brought her to the show” whereas the same person will tell you of what influence will he be if he brings an actor to the same event or party just like a marketer will tell you the female counterparts are more of influence than their male counterparts.

Multiple award winning modish producer and actress, Omoni Obolo, influencing the sights of men with her somewhat unacceptable advertisement of her cleavages and belly b*tton on replete occasions, especially on the red carpets.

The mother of four is a reputable producer and screen goddess whose identity commands respect any day, anytime, which makes one wonders: ‘what more attention could she be looking for?’ despite that she still commands respect than most of her male counterparts who dare not do half of what she did.

When fans and the media bombarded Ruth Kadiri as concerning the raunchy pictures she published on the internet, she explained by saying, “I wanted to do a photo shoot and I did it.” But that does not totally wave the truth embedded in uneasiness expressed by mothers and home builders who didn’t share her sentiments.

Having a curvaceous and contouring shape as part of their “ package” is definitely a plus for Nollywood actresses and there is no doubt they are having their advantage over their male counterparts who also secretly been admiring the highly endowed among them Anita Joseph. raises the brows of concerned parties is the gravity with which she prides over the massive endowment attached to her behind about how it makes men drool in lust for her.

But that is trivial compared to how much she loves to flaunt her asset with scanty clothes around them.

Indeed, ‘words aren’t just enough’ to describe the seductive prowess of some of these Nigerian actresses and their influence and the respect they command will continue to rise.
