College of Agric Mokwa to be upgraded –Gov Bello

The Niger state government has said that it would expend over N500 million to upgrade the entire infrastructural facilities of College of Agriculture, Mokwa to create conducive atmosphere for learning.

The state governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, gave the assurance when he paid an unscheduled visit to the institution at Mokwa local government of the state, stressing that giving priority to agriculture fund to be the only alternative to oil sector.

He expressed dismay at the level of decay and long abandonment of the college, adding that concentrated effort will be made on the water supply project to ensure easy access to water in the school to avoid outbreak of any kind of water borne diseases.

The Provost of the institution, Dr. Aliyu Mohammed, said that the school is not secured, lacked lots of facilities and needed to carry out a total renovation of the college.

He added that the school has about 900 students on its admission currently therefore appealed to the governor for a quick intervention.

Dr. Mohammed applauded the numerous achievements of the present administration despite recession especially in the areas of education that has been his major priority that can be seen and touched.

One of the student interviewed, Blessing, decried of inadequate and decayed facilities like hostels, library, poor clinic, lack of good access roads within the school and access road to the college, charged the state government for urgent intervention.
