CIBN seeks Edo’s support to reduce threats on banks

The President, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Mr. Olusegun Ajibola, has called for the support of Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo in reducing threats to banks’ operations in the country.
CIBN said in a statement on Tuesday, that Ajibola called for the support while commending the government for warm reception accorded to banking stakeholders during a visit to the state.
The statement was signed by Mrs. Folakemi Akintayo, the CIBN’s Corporate Affairs Manager.
It stated that the threats included the multiplicity of taxes slammed on the banks and security issues.
“The threats being encountered are retarding banking growth.
“CIBN seeks your support in ameliorating the excessive threats being encountered by banks from operating environment in Nigeria. This includes multiple taxes slammed on the banks and security issues.’’
“We also seek to partner and collaborate with your administration and relevant institutions within Edo on our core deliverables for value addition to the state.
“This would bring about continued economic growth and prosperity.’’
