FEC Meeting: Buhari now works from home as Osinbajo takes over
Apparently taking his time to rest and recuperate from certain ailment, President Muhammadu Buhari will now work from his residence at the Presidential Villa, Abuja while Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) will now preside over the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting and other presidential functions.
Besides, the president needs rest and he will be treating the files from his residence.
This development was disclosed by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed while explaining the absence of Buhari from presiding over the FEC Meeting for the second time in one month.
Mohammed S stated this while speaking to state house correspondents at the end of the meeting of the FEC meeting chaired by Osinbajo in Buhari’s absence.
According to the minister, Buhari needed some rest and has asked that all the files on his desk be brought to him at his official residence for treatment.
Buhari is yet to make public appearances since he returned to the country after a 49-day medical vacation in the United Kingdom.
Mohammed said, ” We just concluded the federal executive council meeting, I’m sure you noticed that the president was not there. He was not there because he asked that he be allowed to rest and asked the VP to preside.
“And he will be working from home. He has asked all his files to be taken to him in the house. He will be working from home”.
But before the meeting commenced, ministers who seemed surprised by the absence of the president were sighted curiously whispering about the development.
It was further gathered that the ministers
had awaited the president’s arrival until the state house chief of protocols suddenly stepped in at 11am and whispered to Osinbajo, who then announced the commencement of the meeting to be chaired by him.
About 20 out of 36 ministers were also conspicuously absent from the FEC meeting which took place at the council chambers.
