Buhari names Kyari as NNPC GMD, appoints new 7 chief operating officers

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a new Group Managing Director for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kolo Kyari.

Kyari whose appointment takes effect from July 7, replaces Mai Kanti Baru.

The President has also appointed seven new chief operating officers with effect from July 7. They are Roland Onoriode Ewubare (South-South), chief operating officer, upstream; Mustapha Yinusa Yakubu (North-Central), chief operating officer, refining and petrochemicals; Yusuf Usman (North-East), chief operating officer, gas and power and Ms. Lawrencia Nwadiabuwa Ndupu (South-East), chief operating officer, ventures.

Others are Umar Isa Ajiya (North-West), chief financial officer; Adeyemi Adetunji (South-West), chief operating officer, downstream and

Farouk Garba Said (North-West), chief operating officer, corporate services.

The President directed the new appointees to work with the current occupants of their various positions between now and July 7 towards a smooth transition on July 8.
