Buhari inherited bad economy from past govt – Minister

Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has lamented that President Muhammed Buhari inherited bad economy from the past administration, but has been working hard to fix it through diversification of its base.

Onu made this known while addressing leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of Ebonyi State in his Uburu country home who came to celebrate the New Year with him.

He gave an assurance that there would be a turn-around in the economy of the nation very soon as a result of measures put in place by Buhari, especially in the area of fighting corruption.

Onu called on the people of Ebonyi State to support the Buhari administration as they could not afford to be in opposition.

He restated his commitment to reposition the ministry of Science and Technology to make it vibrant.

He alleged that Facebook account created by unscrupulous elements in his name was being used to defraud people and warned against it.

He said that in the first place he doesn’t operate any Facebook account and wondered why people were using his name on it book with his pictures to do all manner of business.

“Many people have called me on phone that they were the ones chatting with me on Facebook, and I stand here to say I don’t operate Facebook account.

“If anybody creates Facebook account with my name and pictures and said he is chatting with me, the person is a criminal. Ignore such a person. Some persons have been using my name and pictures to do all manner of business. I want to warn them to desist from this”, he said.

He used the occasion to clarify the claim in some quarters that he visited Governor Dave Umahi to mend fences with him, saying he had no problem with the Governor, but that he visited him to console him on the demise of his mother, Mrs. Margret Umahi.

He said he usually visit anyone that loses his/her parent irrespective of political affiliation as he knows the pains of losing a parent which had happened to him when he lost his father and mother.

He wondered why the visit was misinterpreted by some people and a section of the media.

The State Acting Chairman of the party, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu, told Onu that the party was now united and poised to win future elections.
