BREAKING: Two Officers, Others Abducted as Bandits Attack Nigeria Defence Academy

Bandits stormed the Nigerian Defence Academy’s permanent campus in Kaduna State, murdering two officers and kidnapping another.

Although the incident has not been confirmed by the authorities, a security source told Daily Times that it happened in the early hours of Tuesday.

The bandits who arrived in a vehicle were alleged to have entered the academy through the security gate while dressed in military uniforms, then went to the officers’ quarters.

They opened fire intermittently when they arrived, killing two officers (a Major and a Squadron Leader), and subsequently abducting another Major through the academy’s neighboring bush.

The sound of shooting, on the other hand, alerted NDA Quick Response Team members, who arrived on the spot but were unable to rescue the kidnapped officer since the bandits had already fled with the victim.

A joint team of security personnel has initiated an inside-the-bush manhunt, including air surveillance, in the hopes of apprehending the bandits and rescuing the kidnapped officer.

The Nigerian Defence Academy lies just a few meters from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization Afaka in Kaduna State’s Igabi local government area, where 39 students were kidnapped by gunmen in March.
