Borno, PCNI collaborate in talking humanitarian crises

The Vice Chairman of the Presidential Committee on North East Initiative (PCNI), Tijjani M Tumsah, and the Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, on Monday at the agency’s office in Abuja resolved to collaborate in taking the challenges arising from humanitarian crises in the region.
In a statement signed on Monday in Abuja by the Head of Media and Communications of the PCNI, Alkasim Abdulkadir said the Governor’s visit was in continuation of the strategic alliance between the Federal and State governments in tackling the humanitarian crisis in the North East.
Tumsah reiterated the commitment of the PCNI in conjunction with other MDAs and donors and to refurbish all PHCs, Secondary and Tertiary healthcare facilities not only in Borno State but the entire North East region in other to improve healthcare delivery.
Governor Shettima used the occasion to highlight the need of the Coordination agency to also standardize secondary healthcare institutions in the State to make health care more accessible in the post-insurgency phase. He further singled out the need of the total refurbishment and equipping of the Bama General Hospital to a standard healthcare facility to cater to the inhabitants of Bama town and outlying communities.
The PCNI, according to the statement, outlined its commitments in tackling Hepatitis E and Cholera outbreaks in Borno which have been brought under control and mitigating the mortality rates.
Also present at the meeting were members of the National Assembly; Hon. Mamman Nur Sheriff, Member representing Bama, Ngala & Kala Balge at the House of Representatives and Senator Baba Kaka Bashir Garbai, Senator representing Borno Central amongst others.
