The chairman of Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State, Hon. Onilude Olusegun Adeniran has assured residents of the council that they will enjoy the full benefits of democratic rule in 2018 and beyond, as the council leadership was poised to work hard towards meeting the needs of the people.

While telling the audience which comprised political leaders, traditional rulers and council leadership in the local government, including journalists from various media houses about their achievements and future plans, Adeniran admitted that his administration in the local government took off on a slow pace because, “we had to first set up a total re-engineering agenda upon which to build the developmental process of Badagry Local Government of our dream.”
According to him, “one of the first challenges we faced at inception was the poor IGR base we met on ground. This was compounded by the dwindling allocations from the Federation account.

He also informed that the council has gotten an approval for the establishment of Badagry Chamber of Commerce, which he said will help drive the economic growth of the council and enhance the efforts of the council in job creation, which will help take a lot of the unemployed youths off the streets.
Speaking on some of the achievements of the council since the inception of his administration, the local government boss said within the period he was able to complete and furnish the legislative building which contain offices and legislative chamber for the legislators and named after Oba C.D Akran, the first legislator to be elected from Badagry.
Other projects includes grading of some bad roads across the council, completion of some primary health centres, sinking of two boreholes, complete with generating sets in Salu and Gberefu, with a promise to sink more in other places when there is improvement in resources.
The local government he said also provided an ultra sound scanning machine, to help in the early detection of some medical conditions and also built a website to enhance the tourism potential of the local government and also help in providing information about Badagry.
While promising to do more in the months to come, the chairman also spoke about plans to build a befitting office complex in the council, develop more parks and markets and also do more in creating a better learning environment for pupils in public schools in the local government.
Adeniran assured that his administration has lofty plans for the local government and its people, assuring that, “this administration is determined to make a mark. I have given out some of our immediate term plans for the progress of our local government. We have big plans for the education sector, the health sector and road infrastructure development,” he said.
