“It is the earnest desire of Governor Samuel Ortom to give the Benue child quality education to enable them to be comprehensive beings. I therefore, commend the governor for always paying the UBEC counterpart funding timely,” he said.

He said with the state government’s continuous and unrelenting support, primary education in the state will soon be a shining star to other states of the federation.

Deputy Director, Social Mobilisation, Mr. Wilfred Gbatsorun, said the two schools are special cases of Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) intervention in the state.

According to him, Benue was allocated two slots because of the outstanding performance of the Ortom administration, emphasising that usually, it was only one slot per state.

He stated that though UBEC is yet to pay its counterpart funding, the governor had gone ahead to complete the renovation of the school which amounted to N7 million, while Agbaikyor was renovated by the Agbaikyor community and UBEC.
