Liverpool Ladies forward Asisat Oshoala has been shortlisted for the 2015 BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year. She said she is surprised and excited by to be nominated for the award.
“I worked hard last year but I am surprised to be nominated and I feel much appreciated,” said Oshoala.
The 20-year-old, who scored her second league goal of the season for Liverpool Ladies in a 2-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday, has made a name for herself in the past one year.
Seattle Reign’s Kim Little, Veronica Boquette of FFC Frankfurt and Wolfsburg star Nadine Kessler are the other contenders completing the five-woman list.
