Bayelsa changing through investments in Education”– Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has rated high the Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, over the ongoing investment in Educational development and Infrastructure in the State, saying the investment and recent achievements by indigent students is changing the narratives about the state.

He commended the efforts of Governor Seriake Dickson at transforming the State education sector.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who made this known through the chaplain, Aso Villa chapel Professor Seyi Malomo, during a tour of the State Model school known as the Ijaw National Academy, located in the Kiiama community of Kolokuma/Opokuma Local council area of the State..

Professor Seyi Malomo, who also represented the Vice President, Professor Osinbajo at the official commissioning/dedication of the 10,000 seater Ecumenical building at Igbogene comunity on Tuesday, said it is rare to find such effort put together by a state government and also rare to find a leader who is painstakingly changing the narrative through education.

Malomo said with what he has seen today, in no time these ones (students) that have been given this opportunity to learn in such a conducive environment would put an end to the unrest in the Niger Delta region.

Also speaking, a member of the delegation of the Vice President, Rear Admiral Peter Ebhalema (Rtd) recalled that in the past Bayelsa State was in an unpleasant condition, but today he is not only surprised at the level of progress but also commends the present administration.

The Admiral prayed that this be sustained by administrations to come and also called for support among Bayelsans.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite who led the delegation on the tour of the Institution, informed the delegation of the Vice President that since the Restoration Administration of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson, education in Bayelsa state has experienced a paradigm shift positively especially in the area of infrastructure, external examinations and awards.

Obuebite, who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Felix Odubo, SA Secondary Education – HRM Josephine Ezonbodor, SSA Student Welfare- Deaconess Patricia Akpi, Director Welfare- Amaso Ogbotiti. Others are Dr. Mrs. Mieyefa, Mrs. Singabele, Mr Lucky Akenfia, and John Warifiniowei, all directors of the Ministry., assured the Vice President that in no time, Bayelsa will take the lead in the education sector not only in Nigeria, but the rest of the world.
