Bail out funds: EFCC Arrests 2 Ekiti officials

Ekiti State Commissioner for Finance Toyin Ojo, and the Accountant General and the Accountant General have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The Head of Media and Publicity for the anti-graft agency, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, who confirmed the arrest to the Daily Times in a statement said that they were picked up today (Thursday) following their refusal to honour previous invitations for interrogation in relation to pending investigation on the misuse of bailout funds by the Ayodele Fayose administration.

Fayose’s aides were arrested the same day the governor officially announced his desire to contest the 2019 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The anti-graft agency swoop on the state capital, Ado-Ekiti on Thursday hours after Governor Ayo Fayose declared his intention to run for president in 2019.

The governor, who announced his intention in Abuja revealed that he will contest under the platform of the PDP.
He said: “Nobody like me can take out the President from his office; twice I defeated the incumbents to become governor of Ekiti State.”

Fayose assured that he will run a purposeful government that will cater for all Nigerians irrespective of religion or tribe.

He lamented the state of Nigeria and urged the party to support him become the country’s next leader.

He said in a speech: “Our economy will be revived and returned to the path of progress that it was before we had the misfortune of having these clueless people in power.
