Baby boy stolen in Asaba

A boy of two years old, Godwill Awah Eke, has been reportedly stolen in Asaba. His grieving parents have appealed to anybody keeping the baby to release him.
Eke, who spoke to our correspondent in her family house, at 45, Osowa Street, Asaba, said that she had been married for five years, without a child, before God blessed her with the stolen boy and his sister.
According to her, she returned from her business as a petty trader, on Wednesday, last week and left the boy under the care of his cousin, Basil, to attend to a customer, who was calling on her to supply dried shrimps.
She said that upon her return some minutes later, she discovered that the boy, who was exactly one year and nine months old, was no anywhere to be found within the compound.
Eke, who hails from Isiugwu-Ohafia, in Ohafiah Local Government Area, of Abia State, said she raised an alarm and all efforts to locate him proved abortive, adding that she had reported to the police but nothing positive, had been said.
She said that although her church, Presbyterian Church, Asaba had resorted to prayer for God’s intervention, her husband, Awah Eke, had  also reported to elders of the village to inform all landlords and tenants, so that whoever was holding the child should let him out of captivity.
She reiterated her appeal to the police and members of the public, who had an idea of the whereabouts of the baby to assist in locating him by reporting to the nearest police station or the family.
The Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, confirmed that a search party had been set up by the police with a view to arresting the baby thief.
