Awka North restates loyalty to APGA , as Obiano offers scholarship

Anambra state government has announced its readiness to offer scholarship to students who wish to enrol in the various agricultural courses.

The scholarship scheme which has been factored in the 2018 budget will commence next year, after the passage of the budget.

Governor Obiano announced this during APGA campaign rally at Achalla, the Headquarters of Awka North Local government.

According to him ” Our mean aim of converting Anambra state College of Agriculture, Mgbakwu to polytechnic is to introduce numerous agricultural programmes that will contribute meaningfully to our agricultural policy.

” There will be scholarship set aside for those who have interest to study basic agricultural programmes in the state Polytechnic.

” We are doing all these to achieve our targeted food sufficiency, boost our production capacity and enhance exportation.” Obiano said.

He promised to procure five transformers in the area to stabilise their power generation, adding that his administration had completed the installation of 15 KVA transmitter at Izuanaocha to circulate to other communities in the area.

The governor said Awka North benefited from the recent upgrade of 63 heath care centre across the three senatorial zone to them have adequate access to the health insurance policy and other health related care the state had mapped out.

He directed his Peace Committee to quickly intervene in the alleged destruction of farms by some herdsmen to in the area, assuring them of adequate compensation when ascertained.

Earlier, the Council of Traditional Rulers in Awka North, unanimously conferred “Ugonwanne Awka North ” to Governor Obiano for exposing them to windows of production and exportation, which had given them financial stability.

Conferring the title, the Traditional Ruler of Ebenebe Kingdom, HRM, Igwe Chris Nnaegbuna expressed their unalloyed support the Obiano, especially in achieving his second time bid.

The member representing Awka North in the State House of Assembly, Hon Boniface Okonkwo disclosed that Governor Obiano continued with every project inherited the his predecessor, saying the Amansea – Ebenebe road would soon be completed.

Okonkwo assured the Governor that the Awka North would vote massively for APGA, come November 18th.

The Special Adviser on Security Matters, Mr Chikodi Anara said the present administration had invested and transformed every ministry and had judiciously managed the resources of the state.

Anara explained that Anambra had been leading in external competition in every ministry, especially in education and sports.

The Transition Chairman, Mr Emeka Onwuzuka pointed that various various capital projects in the local government were on going, especially Ayamelum – Kogi road which would soon be completed.

Onwuzuka revealed that the completion of Awba Ofemili road would attract heavy commercial activities and contribute in building the state’s internally generated revenue.

A major stakeholder in APGA, Hon Godson Ezenagu said the Governor provided security, which in return, contributed to the heavy influx of investors.

The Wife of the Governor, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano stressed that the visit was to re-echo the achievements of the present administration.

Mrs Obiano maintained that the governor had transformed Awka to a befitting capital within his three years of administration.

“.Through my pet project, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE), we have restored many lost hope and touched many lives. We have built over 15 houses to windows and the needy in different communities.

” We have equally dug over 21 boreholes, trained and empowered many youths in different skill. We will continue all these to make the state a better place. ‘ Mrs Obiano added.

She urged youths and women to protect their votes to avoid any electoral malpractice.

The highlight was the conferment of “Ugonwanne Awka North” to the governor.
