Aviation to inject $5bn in NIMP in 30 years – FAAN boss

Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Engr. Saleh Dunoma, says that the country’s aviation industry would inject about $5 billion out of the $3.10 trillion required by the National Integrated Infrastructure Masterplan (NIMP), into the nation’s economy.
The arrangement is expected to be over a period of 30 years through Public-Private Partnerships ( PPP).
General Manager, Corporate Communications, FAAN, Mr. Yakubu Dati, in a statement, said that Dunoma revealed this yesterday at the on-going annual conference and exhibition of the Airport Council International, ACI, holding in Montreal.
He insisted that the country had a huge infrastructure deficit for which it require foreign capital and expertise to supplement whatever resources it could marshal in the country, saying that Nigeria seek PPP in its quest for enhanced capital and expertise.
Dunoma hinted that the appointment of Sen. Hadi Sirika as the Minister of State for Aviation had fast tracked the provision of the legislative framework and corresponding incentives to attract foreign direct investment.
He added, “We invite Investors to join the PPP process for airport management and take advantage of the great and vast opportunities, ‘Feet’ and Offerings in our airports.”
Earlier at the opening ceremony, the Director-General of ACI World, Angela Gittens said “ACI-NA works with our members everyday to seek common sense approaches to turn short-term challenges into long-term opportunities.”
