Attending backyard party lands teenager $13,000 fine

A group of partygoers have been fined $13,000 for breaching coronavirus restrictions at Whyalla, in South Australia.
Neighbors reported a fight on Whalla Norrie street just before 6pm on Saturday to the police
When they arrived, they discovered a group of up to 40 people.
They issued warnings to the group and informed them they were in breach of COVID-19 rules, which limit gatherings to groups of 10.
However, after they dispersed and police left, a small group reconvened.
Police then returned to the property just before 9pm following a noise complaint.

A large group, including children, were there to “celebrate a birthday party”.
Thirteen people were slapped with $1,000 fines including seven women and six men.
Those fined were between 20-67 years old.
