Atiku unveils national competition on policy document, flags off campaign in Sokoto today

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has unveiled a national competition that will allow Nigerians interrogate his policy document.

The competition, tagged ‘Voice of the People Competition’, was kicked off on Sunday, December 2, and will end on December 24, 2018.

It will be recalled that Atiku had during the unveiling of his policy document via a Facebook Live broadcast on 19 November, said: “I want these policies to be our policies – yours and mine.

I want to hear your ideas to get Nigeria working again. So I will give the opportunity to anyone in Nigeria to have their say on national television.”

The Atiku Presidential Campaign boasts of this idea as the first time in the world that a presidential candidate will be calling for a national debate on his/her policy action plan. This is the world’s first!

The competition via a video broadcast on his Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/atiku.org) will see 6 members of the Nigerian public given a one minute slot on national television to say what they think needs to be done to help get Nigeria working again.

Contributors are to state their names and location and one winner will be announced from each of all the six geo-political zones of Nigeria who will have the opportunity to have their recording played in a national telecast from January 1 to 6, 2019.

The competition is open to every Nigerian who ate free to enter by simply recording a one minute video and posting it on their respective Facebook, Instagram or Twitter account by 24th December.

Competitors are requested to add to their post the hashtag, #LetsGetNigeriaWorkingAgain and the state where they reside. Interested individuals can post a video selfie or any other form of video – the only limit is your imagination.

The judging panel, led by Senator Ben Murray Bruce, will review the entries and select one winner from each geo-political zone. One key criterion for the winners will be the number of engagements their entry generates.

The judging criteria will be based on the following: the originality of the idea to help Get Nigeria Working Again and how feasible it would be to implement; the clarity of how the idea is communicated; the creativity of the video and the number of engagements in social media the video has generated.

Meanwhile, December 2, the PDP will today hold its North West Presidential Zonal Rally in Sokoto, Sokoto State

The Director Media and Publicity of PDP Presidential Campaign Management Council, Kola Ologbondiyan said the rally will focus on issues as well as address the concerns, plights, fears and aspirations of Nigerians in the geo-political zone, in line with the policy document of its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

He said the PDP Presidential campaign will use the rally to touch base with leaders in the geo-political zone on further consultations on the national consensus to rescue our nation from the misrule of the Muhammadu Buhari Presidency and the dysfunctional All Progressives Congress (APC).

“The campaign notes that the North West bears heavy imprints of neglect by President Buhari’s administration, adding that the President and the APC cannot point to any key development project articulated and completed by it in the last three and half years, despite the huge resources it claims to have channelled to the zone.

“The campaign revealed that the zone is hugely disappointed in President Buhari, who had failed to fulfil any of his 2015 campaign promises even as it is piqued by his 2019 ‘next level’ campaign mantra which shows Mr. President’s lack of remorse for his failures.

“It notes that the North West zone has completely lost confidence in President Buhari and is now rallying with the PDP’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who has demonstrated an unrivalled competence and political will to reposition the nation and return her to the path of national cohesion and economic prosperity.

” Finally the campaign appreciates the entire people of the North West geo-political zone and Nigerians in general for the unprecedented outpouring of goodwill, prayers and support for Atiku Abubakar, since his popular emergence as the party’s Presidential candidate”, said Ologbondiyan.
