Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has on behalf of the party and the governorship candidate in Niger state, Alhaji Umar Nasko donated the sum of five million naira (N5 million) cash to affected traders of the Abdulkadir Kure ultra modern market, Minna.
It can be recalled that the fire gutted over 50 shops on Friday morning where goods worth hundreds of millions of naira.
Alhaji Atiku had visited the scene of the incident where he made a promise to ensure that affected traders are compensated.
As part of efforts to fulfil the party’s promise, the PDP Gubernatorial candidate on behalf of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar handed the sum of N5 million to the market committee at his campaign office in Minna on Thursday.
Also, the Senatorial candidate of the party in Zone B, Ibrahim Ishaku, House of Representatives candidate, Audu Buba and House of Assembly candidate, Kabiru Jazu donated a cash of one million (N1million) to support affected traders.
Receiving the cash on behalf of the traders, chairman of the market committee, Mallam Shehu Ahmed Wawo thanked the Presidential candidate and the state gubernatorial candidate for their benevolence saying the money will be judiciously given to those affected.
Also, the market supervisor also known as Sakin Kasuwa, Mallam Ado Garba, while thanking the PDP Presidential and governorship candidates pleaded with the state government and individuals for immediate assistance to victims.
