ASSASINATION AGAIN IN EKITI, FEW DAYS AFTER POLICE PAYMASTER KILLED

….POLICE PARADE THREE SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS OF EX-LAWMAKER’S WIFE

 

Barely twenty Four hours  after  Paymaster of the Ekiti State Police Command, Mr Idowu Taiwo was gruesomely murdered by unknown gunmen on the street of Ado Ekiti, another man identified as a professional engineer, Mr Kunle  Enisan  has been assassinated in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State Capital.

Enisan, father of two, who was  in early 40’s  and an employee of Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State,  was killed around 8.15pm on Monday at Housing Estate along Afao road  in a manner that kept many agitated about the security of the state .

Narrating how the incident happened, Barrister Adeoye Aribasoye, an inlaw to the deceased, said the victim was returning home with his wife in his car had a stopover on the way where the wife had headed home through alternative means expecting the husband  to join her later.

Aribasoye said: “ When it was 9pm, the wife became agitated because the deceased don’t keep late. The wife started looking for  him . Just a few  metres from home , she and the search party saw his car parked few metres from home and the doors were  opened. But because of the fear, they could not see him on the ground on the other side of the car. They later came and saw his lifeless body beside where his car was parked”.

Aribasoye said the family immediately reported the matter to the police,  disclosing that they have visited the family to extract first hand information.“ The wife is my younger sister. The people of the state are  no longer safe. The security is nothing to write home about. We believe it was a clear case of assassination because nothing was taken away from the car but we only saw some documents  scattered on the ground .

He observed that “Kidnapping and  assassination are rampant now and Ayo Fayose’s
government must be proactive to arrest the situation”.

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti Command, Mr Alberto Adeyemi , said the detectives are already on the trail of the perpetrators of the nefarious act.

However,  the Commissioner of Police, Mr Wilson Inalegwu  has ordered serious stop and search operation in all major highways in Ekiti .

Already, Police have been seen  stopping motorists and searching their vehicles at all entry points  to Ado Ekiti capital city, while similar operation was  going on in all other divisions across the 16 local
government areas of the state.

Taiwo,  was found dead on Monday morning with his hands tied to the back in a car in Ajilosun area after being kidnapped at a pub  on Sunday night by unknown gunmen. Speaking with journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday , Inalegwu said no arrest has been made in connection with the gruesome murder of the officer.

Inalegwu, who spoke through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Alberto Adeyemi, disclosed that the measure  was part of the operations lined up to make Ekiti a no-go-area for criminals.

The operation  however, unleashed hardship on motorists as traffic snarl were seen in Odo Ado, Ajilosun, Basiri  and Adebayo areas in the state capital due to checkpoints mounted by the police.

In a rekated development the Police in Ekiti State have paraded three suspects who participated in the kidnap of Mrs. Oyinlola Ajibola, wife of former member of the House of Assembly, Samuel Ajibola in Omuo-Oke in Ekiti East Local Government Area in October.

The suspects, Adeola Ayodele, Rotimi Onileowo and Sunday Koko have confessed to the crime which took place on October 8 at the residence of the victim while three members of the gang are still at large.

Ayodele who wept profusely during the parade said they participated in the crime begging for forgiveness from the victim, adding that he has been praying to God to forgive them for kidnapping the woman.

While narrating her ordeal, Mrs. Ajibola said the suspects stormed the house with five guns demanding for money which she gave to them before they collected her car key from her, adding that they warned her to cooperate with them that they were on a mission to kidnap following which they forced her into the car and whisked her away at gunpoint.

According to her “They marched me to the bush where I spent eight days, I was tortured and beaten before I was real ease after spending eight days in captivity.”

Her husband, Mr. Ajibola, however commended the Police for eventually arresting his wife’s captors.
