Aregbesola Lauds Afe Bababola for his industrial revolution initiative

Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has commended the founder, Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) for his singular giant stride and initiative in industrial revolution to prepare better and brighter future for the youth, the generation and country at large.

Aregbesola who spoke at Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), last Thursday while interacting with the management and students of the private institution noted the giant stride of the legal icon which he said will not only go a longer way to addressing the economy problem in the country but will also place Nigeria in better position to lead in economic advancement in Africa.

The Governor who specifically lauded ABUAD’s founder, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), for establishing a university with a vision and mission to churn out great future leaders and innovators, pointed out that the university has ushered in a paradigm shift in the nation’s tertiary education and in Africa.

Aregbesola who described Afe Babalola as an uncommon man who should be emulated added that God had destined Nigeria to be a driver of African race through such a man like him, advising that the country shouldn’t just be great in
name and population, but must exhibit such in economic advancement and leadership.

“God did not create Nigeria for itself but for all Africa. The time has
come for Nigeria to think right and re-position itself through quality leadership at levels to be strong enough to take leadership in this continent.

“If Nigeria is strong economically and it adds its strength with that of South Africa, we will be able to bring out those resources wasting away in Rwanda, Uganda, Botswana and other African nations for better
economic prospect”, Aregbesola pointed out.

Aregbesola who had earlier visited Afe Babalola farm and was amazed at the wonders he saw at farm however expressed concern about the seemingly unending farmers -herdsmen rows in the country.

Specifically, the Osun State Governor said Nigeria will continue to witness this ugly situation, if the primitive ways of cattle rearing in Nigeria is not addressed.

“I am not trying to justify killings or trying to say that the Fulanis
should dominate Nigeria, but what I am saying is that Nigeria has failed to be technologically and innovatively advanced due to bad leadership.

“As we speak now, there are no green grasses in any part of Europe and they produced cattle Africa cannot even boast of. They prepared their pasture , foliage and fodders during the six months of rainy season
and kept to feed their cattle during the dry season.

“The cattle are restricted within the ranches and I believe that if
some nations could be thinking like this, Nigeria has no reason not to toe the same line. We must turn this situation into a huge economic opportunities for our people.

“In the southwest, some of the farmers are still using the old and primitive hoes and cutlasses for farming .

“This is the more reason why many of these peasant farmers can’t stand straight at 60. Even many of them must have looked aged at that age and had their hands deformed and body diseased.

“For Nigeria to get out of the herdsmen killings, we must adopt modern system of cattle rearing and we must stop reading ethnic sentiment to it”, he advised.
