APC lauds Daily Times @ 90

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has felicitated with the Daily Times of Nigeria (DTN) on its 90th anniversary celebrations.

In a statement personally signed by its National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, addressed to DTN Publisher, FIdelis Anosike, dated June 20, the ruling party commended the newspaper for its laudable tradition of propagating progressives and democratic ideals in the country.

According to the party, the celebration of DTN’s 90th anniversary is an important milestone in Nigeria’s vibrant media history.

His words: “The APC particularly commends the management of Folio Communications for its laudable efforts at reinventing, reinvigorating and repositioning the newspaper which was first printed on June 1, 1926 despite inherent economic and financial challenges in the newspaper industry in Nigeria.

“Going down memory lane, I recall with pride, Daily Times as the popular voice of the Nationalists Movements in Nigeria. During the 1950s, the paper played an important role in the process that led to Nigeria’s independence in 1960”, he asserted.

Odigie-Oyegun, a former governor of Edo State added that: “commendably, Daily Times has continued in its long and laudable tradition of propagating progressive and democratic ideals in the country through professionalism, factual and balanced reportage”.

The party then wished the Daily Times a happy 90th anniversary and even greater future ahead.
