APC aspirant seeks capacity building for youths

An aspirant, Kwara State House of Assembly Hon. Azeez kolawole, has expressed the need to boost the capacity of Nigerian youths for them to successfully take over as future leaders.

Kolawole (aka AGK) made the assertion in Aran-Orin suburb, while declaring his intention to vie for the State House of Assembly slot for Irepodun Local Government in 2019 general elections.

The Daily Times reports that Kolawole who hails from Ipetu-Rore-Aran-Orin Ward of the council is vying for the position under the APC.

He described the high level of illiteracy among the youths as discouraging, saying that the menace deserved urgent attention of relevant stakeholders.

Kolawole said the low level of awareness among the youths was responsible for their being subjected to used and dumped by politicians and other society heavy weights.

“It is rather unfortunate that some of our youths, the supposed future leaders, are not well positioned education and intellectual wise to take over in the nearest future.

“The same thing is responsible for the get quick syndrome now prevalence among the youths which has led them into drugs, armed robbery and other illicit acts.

“So as a matter of urgent national importance there is the need for more capacity building for our youths if they should make meaningful and useful impact in governance,” he said.

Kolawole who took a shot at the council’s Chairmanship in 2011 hinged his declaration for the Assembly seat on the need to liberate the people from shackle of poverty and unemployment.

He regretted that the electorates were not being given free hands to vote for their choice candidates and parties during elections.

“This is the situation when I joined politics in 2011 and in seeking redress to this anomalies some people felt slighted and I was shot at and I was saved by providence.

“But we are more determined more than ever before and the desired liberation envisioned for our people will soon be a reality,” he said.

The aspirant who expressed confidence in the ability of the APC’s state and national leaders said the party would come out better and stronger in spite of its few challenges.

Kolawole urged the electorates to refrain from trading their Permanent Voters Cards for monetary gains, describing such act as counterproductive to their yearnings and aspirations.
