Anambra Police parades 14 suspects

No few than fourteen persons have been arrested by Anambra state police Command.

The suspects were paraded by at the Command Headquarters, Amawbia, for different offences ranging from robbery, child trafficking, kidnapping among others.

Some of the suspects include Kenneth Chikwe, Uzohu Livingstone 51, Oluchukwu Nwajide 19, Chukwuebuka Ugwu 19, Kosisochukwu Nwacho 18, Bright Ozor 22.

Others were Shaka Gabriel 27, Thom Lawrence 27, Ability Samuel 25, Elis Igboya 30, Friday Ibrahim 23, Chinonso Arunobi 23, and Oko Jushua 18.

Parading the suspects, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Garba Umar said the suspects who were

Narrating the activities of the suspects arrested for robbery, Mr Umar, said “At about 1030hrs of 2nd September, 2017, following a distress call that one Paul Onyili ‘m’ and Engr Nnamdi Onyili ‘m’ were robbed of their cars, Range Rover sports, Reg. no Lagos: MUS 644 BB, and Hilux Jeep Reg. no: Lagos LND 685 EW, discreet investigation led to the arrest of one Kenneth Chikwe ‘m’ a dismissed policeman who was arrested at Awka with bullet injuries. His confession further led to the arrest of his accomplice one Uzohu livingstone ‘m’ 51years at Owerri and the recovery of the two robbed vehicles by the Police.
Meanwhile, both suspects have provided useful information that could lead to the arrest of other gang members and possible recovery of other stolen vehicles in their possession.”

Speaking on kidnapping, the C. P noted that “On 15/09/2017, a seven-man gang of armed robbers/kidnappers stormed the residence of one Prince Sylvester Arebun ‘m’ at Uromi in Edo State and robbed him of his Honda pilot car with Reg. No. Lagos AAA 556 EM the suspects further took the stolen vehicle to Mgbuka Obosi in order to sell it.

Equally o child trafficking, the Police Boss explained that “On 24/9/2017 at about 16:00hrs, following intelligence reports the Command, arrested three (3) suspects namely: Oluchukwu Nwajide ‘m’ 19years, Chukwuebuka Ugwu ‘m’ 19years, Kosisochukwu Nwacho ‘m’ 18years,.Preliminary investigation revealed that suspects stole a male child aged 5yrs of Agbon village Nnobi and they were arrested at Nnokwa Community in Idemili South LGA Anambra State.The victim was rescued in good health and reunited to his family while suspects confessed to the crime.”

Some of the items recovered were Range Rover Jeep, Hilux Jeep, AK 47 Rifles, many rounds of live ammunition, K2 Rifles, pump action guns with cartridges, locally made pistols and many exhibits.

Mr. Umar assured that the police would sustain the peace and security in the state, warning desperate politicians to avoid any activities that would thwart the November 18th gubernatorial election in the state.

“Let me also use this opportunity, to appeal to the public now that the gubernatorial campaigns have commenced for the November 18th Anambra State Gubernatorial Elections, they should feel free and come up with any vital information that will be of great assistance to the Command in the fight against crime and criminality and other misguided elements. This will help to sustain the existing peace in the state before, during and after the Election.
Together we can continue to make Anambra remain one of the safest States in the country,” the CP said.

He however added: “Finally, I want to caution all aspirants who plan to use political thugs in order to disrupt the election to have a rethink and desist forthwith as the Command has gotten intelligence in that regard and would deal decisively with any misguided elements that would truncate the ongoing peace in the State. Similarly, all hoteliers are advised to monitor and profile their guest and as well forward their manifest daily through the appropriate channels, failure to adhere strictly to the above advice would attract severe legal consequences which will include closure of such hotel till further notice.”
