Anambra community banishes serial homosexual

Godwin Okeke, Awka
The people of Umuonoli Ezeoye village, Nibo in Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State have banished one Osinachi Godwin Egede over his homosexual activities.
It was gathered that should he set his feet again in the community, he would be sacrificed to the community’s gods for committing sacrilege.
Osinachi, a self-confessed gay activist, was placed on watchlist after he made some posts on social media openly confessing to be gay.
A competent source revealed that prior to his open admittance, he had been on the radar following his suspicious activities which linked him to homosexual lifestyle.
It was, however, gathered that upon his relocation to Nigeria, he confirmed the suspicions of his community members that he was indeed involved in unnatural sex.

His father, who also confirmed the development to our correspondent, said his son’s action was abominable.
In what looked like dissociating himself from his son’s action, he swore to affidavit at the Enugu Magistrate Court, dated 11th July, 2024, he stated that every effort he made in the past to bring his son back to his senses proved abortive.
In the 14-paragraph affidavit, Mr Egede said, “my son was living together with me at the above mentioned address before he got admission to study at Enugu State University of Technology, Enugu, Enugu State in the year 2014
“That sometime on Monday 1st July, 2024, some members of our family and friends started calling me furiously and brought my attention to a post made by Osinachi Godwin Egede via his Facebook page and whatsapp status.
“That my son has been hiding from me and suddenly I got a call from family members about updates on his Facebook handle and current location to read Toronto Canada
“That the post he made is pictures of him and other gay personalities at a carnival event in Toronto, Canada.
“That the act of homosexuality/gay is a serious evil according to our tradition and custom in our village, town and Nigeria at large.
“That the post has drawn the attention of traditional authorities in my kindred, village/town and made them to come together and take some serious decisions against my son Osinachi Godwin Egede.

“That this development reminded me of some discussion I had with my son Osinachi Godwin Egede during his school days in 2017 at Enugu State University of Technology, Enugu when he confronted me openly and told me that he loves/likes his fellow man more than anything anybody can think/ask.
“That 1 tried everything possible to get his sense back, reported his conduct to the police with hope to put fear in him and even coerced him thereafter with some boys to get him beaten up several times but he did not change his mind from this evil act of loving his fellow man.
“At some point he started hiding from me and I never knew he was planning to travel outside Nigeria and I only found out when some people called me and told me that my son is likely to have traveled outside Nigeria, that they saw his Post on Facebook.
“That consequent upon this development a serious decision has been taken by elders/ traditional authority in our kindred, village/town that anywhere Osinachi Godwin Egede is seen he should be arrested and brought down to village for sacrifice to the Gods.
“That this act by Osinachi Godwin Egede has made him a destructive instrument to the society and a bad example to young youths of the kindred and his village.”
Meanwhile, a senior police officer in the Enugu State Police Command, ACP Paul Dung, who signed an extraction from a crime diary, also confirmed that Osinachi was on watchlist.
