Amosun honours Silver medalist Paralympian

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, on Wednesday, honoured the female Nigerian who won Silver medal at the just concluded Paralympics held in Rio, Brazil.
Amosun honoured the Rio Paralympics Gold Medalist, Mrs. Latifat Tijani, who is an indegine of the state with a reward of the sum of N1million and training kits.
The governor, who announced the gesture during the State Executive Council meeting at the State Secretariat Complex in Oke – Mosan, Abeokuta, also donated the sum N500, 000 to her coach, Mrs Kemi Oyebola.
On the request of the athlete, Amosun also directed the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa to collect the curriculum vitae of her husband, Mr Oyeleke Tijani for an employment consideration.
Amosun described Tijani as a worthy ambassador who had done the state and the country proud.
He challenged the athlete to ensure that she won the gold medal at the next Paralympics in 2018.
Responding, Tijani commended the governor for the honour and the donations.
She urged the governor to ensure that the training facilities for weightlifting at the sport council were upgraded to enable the athletes perform at their optimal.
It would be recalled that the Abeokuta North local government born Rio Silver Medalist, Tijani, had competed in the 45 Kg category in weightlifting at the Paralympics at Rio and lifted 106 Kg to clinch the Silver medal.
