Ambode approves payment of lump sum leave allowance

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has approved lump sum payment of leave allowance to all staff in the Civil Service, Local Governments and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) with effect from May, 2016.
A statement issued by the Head of Service, Mrs. Olabowale Ademola, in Thursday, in Alausa, Ikeja, explained that the approval was sequel to agreements reached during a meeting with the Lagos State Public Service Joint Negotiating Council (JNC).
Said she: “Consequently, leave allowance which is 10% of Annual Basic Salary would, henceforth, be payable once annually and no longer on a monthly basis. The payments would be in batches”.
Ademola noted that officers between Grade Levels 1 and 8 would be paid in May, officers between Grade Levels 9 and 12 would be paid in July; officers between Grade Levels 13 and 14 would be paid in September, while officers between Grade Levels 15 and 17 would get their annual leave allowances in October.
She averred that the gesture was in furtherance of the State Government’s commitment to the welfare of its workforce, adding that it should reciprocate government’s gesture by commitment to duty through improved service delivery to the citizenry.
