Akeredolu sends N69bn budget to Assembly

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has transmitted an Appropriation Bill of N69.7billion to the State House of Assembly for deliberation and approval for the 2017 fiscal year.
Bode Adeyelu, the clerk of the Assembly announced this on Tuesday during a plenary session of the lawmakers.
Daily Times learnt that the letter transitioning the budget to the Assembly was signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde.
Our correspondent reliably gathered that Mr. Akeredolu had earlier joined his Senior Special Adviser (SSA), Taofeek Abdusalam, in close door meeting with all the 26 members of the Assembly.
Rt (Hon.) David Oleyeloogun, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly read the budget from the Governor to the lawmakers.
Oloyeloogun said the budget was made up of N95 billion for Recurrent Expenditure and N58 for Capital Expenditure.
He added that in the budget, N8 billion was meant for debt servicing and N8.3 billion for the State Universal Basic Education Board for the maintenance of the primary schools across the state.
He explained that N1 billion was specially allocated to the state owned University Of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) and Rufus Giwa Polytechnic (RUGIPO) get N200,000,000 each.
The budget has been committed to the Chairman Committee on Appropriation, Sunday Olajide.
Jumoke Akindele, immediate past speaker of the Assembly tasked the House Committee on Appropriation to give the bill a speedy passage.
Mrs. Jumoke also appreciated the Governor for allocating the said amount to the OSUSTECH.
She said since the coming on board of the new government the institution has taken a new shape and direction.
