Airports Council International Secretary-General, visits Nigeria

Minister of state for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika has hailed Airports Council International (ACI), Africa for electing a Nigerian, Engineer Salem Dunoma as the President of the organisation.
The minister said this yesterday when the Secretary-General, ACI Africa, Ali Tounsi(Tunisia) paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.
Sirika said ACI Africa has be doing great in the country and that Nigeria has benefited a lot from its activities in form of training, tips on concessioning of airports and improvement of airports. The minister added that the country would appreciate the assistance of ACI Africa by way of advice on Human Resource development and instituting programmes that will help airport economy. He further said the sector was ready to partner with ACI Africa to enhance development in the aviation sector.
The Minister asked that an arrangement be put in place immediately for training of relevant people in the ministry and agencies by experts from ACI.
The Secretary-General, Ali Tounsi has earlier said the reason for his visit was to explore areas of possible collaboration with the ministry on the development of the aviation sector, especially the development of the airports in the area of safety, security and economy.
Mr. Tounsi who visited the minister in the company of the recently elected President of the Council, Engr. Salem Dunoma, charged the country to take advantage of Dunoma’s position for maximum benefits from the programmes of the Council
Airport Council International is the association of the world’s airports. It is a non profit organisation, with the prime purpose of advancing the interest of airports and to promote professional excellence in airport management and operations.
ACI Africa’s mission is to act as an economic catalyst on the African continent while providing effective and quality airport services to stakeholders. It has the objective of contributing to the improvement of a secure, safe and sustainable development of aviation in Africa, to cooperate with regional actors of the industry and others for the improvement of aviation system in Africa and its public perception on a regional and international scale, contribute to the increase of the professional excellence and conformity with the international standards and best practices in the African airport and influence local and regional legislation/regulations for the benefit of airport operators in Africa.
On hand to receive the Secretary-General with the minister was the Ministry Permanent Secretary, Sabiu Zakari, Chief Executives of Aviation Agencies and the top Management in the Ministry.
