AIG warns against doping at Police Games

AIG James Caulcrick, the Chairman, Force Sports Planning Committee for the 11th Biennial Police Games, has warned competitors to refrain from taking performance enhancing drugs or face the consequences.
Caulcrick gave the warning on Sunday on the sidelines of the ongoing Police Games holding at the National Stadium, Abuja.
“The event must not be brought to disrepute because of the activities of some athletes who will want to win by all means.
“The Central Sports Planning Committee of the 11th biennial Police Games under my chairmanship has prepared the athletes to adhere strictly to the code of conduct in and out of the field of play.
“This is in accordance with the general principle of discipline within the Nigeria Police Force as the use of performance enhancing drug is clearly prohibited and discouraged,’’ he said.
“I want to stress that conduct inimical to discipline will be met with stiff penalties because this will not only bring dishonour to the Nigeria Police but will also ruin the careers of those involved,’’ he added.
He commended the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, for his commitment toward a successful hosting of the event, noting that this was the first time the Games would hold simultaneously with the Police Week.
Caulcrick said that the essence of this year’s event was to celebrate both serving and departed athletes who had contributed immensely to the development of sports in the country.
He also said that the Games would be used to strengthen the existing police and community relationship.
