Agriculture, mainstay of every vibrant economy -Niger FADAMA Coordinator

Agriculture had been described as the mainstay of any vibrant and healthy economy.
The Niger state project coordinator, FADAMA Office, Mr. Aliyu Usman Kutigi, reiterated this at the capacity building for the state FADAMA 111 AF staff workshop in Minna, the state capital.
The coordinator stressed the importance of training and retraining g for staff as panacea for improved productivity that will in turn affect the quality of farm yields.
He noted that no economy can survive the mono economy structure or dependent on oil that is time bound insisting that only agriculture can take any nation out of recession currently affecting Nigeria.
Kutigi reiterated that capacity building is the only avenue towards enhanced productivity in addition to improved service delivery.
“I must stress right from the word go that all these capacity building trainings are for the purpose of enhancing your productivity as well as effective service delivery.”
Contributing, the trainer at the workshop, Alhaji Salihu Yusuf, described the eve t as one organized and funded by the Niger Coordination Office of FADAMA.
According to him, such was part of strategy to continuously build the capacity of its staff and keeping them well informed and updated on current global best practices in delivering the objectives of the project intervention yo beneficiaries
He informed that the theme of the project, “developing the rice a d sorghum value chains under the Niger state FADAMA111+ Additional Financing project” was apt.
Yusuf believed the workshop would equip participants with the basic knowledge of the concept of agricultural value chains towards better understanding the dynamics of the programmes intervention in rice and sorghum value chains in the state.
