Worried by the recurring incidences of armed robbery along Jakpa Road in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta state in recent times, a human rights activist, Emeka Nwokocha on Sunday lamented the situation and called on the state Commissioner of Police, Adeyinka Adeleke, to as a matter of urgency crack down on the marauding gangs of armed robbers in the area and the state.

Nwokocha, who spoke to journalists in an interview, described the development as horrendous, saying that the criminals regularly attack and rob commuters, motorists, including pedestrians with ease at any time of the day, especially on the ever busy Jakpa Road in Warri.

“It’s important to call on the commissioner of police in the state to deploy a crack team of police to smash the notorious armed robbers operating along Jakpa Road in Uvwie Local Government Area.

“In the recent times, the robbery incidences have been disturbing and becoming a reoccurring decimal as the criminal elements carry out their robbery operations with uncommon boldness even daring security operatives,” he stated.

The activist pleaded that the police needs to reinforce with additional manpower and logistics to increase their patrol and surveillance to be able to dislodge the criminals and blamed the non-existence of night life in Warri at present on the rising state of insecurity
