Accept Polls Results, Zazzau Emir Urges Contestants

The Emir of Zazzau, Dr Shehu Idris, has urged contestants in the presidential, Senatorial and House of Representatives elections holding this Saturday to accept the outcome of the exercise in good faith.

Dr Idris stated this shortly after his accreditation in the palace square. The traditional ruler said people who will lose should accept defeat and strategise for next time, adding: “Peace is very important in our nation.”

He said further: “Anyone that wins should thank God. The loser should also accept defeat and strategize for the next time. Whatever is the outcome, they should accept it wholeheartedly.”
The emir expressed appreciation to the people who came out in large number to vote, adding: “We are highly impressed with the security arraignments. I am also impressed with what INEC has done. The exercise is smooth. They should continue to maintain the rules and regulations as they started”.

Also, Kaduna State governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero who was accredited at about 10a.m., after an hour in the queue in his Kaura ward (EC 60 D) in Zaria city, expressed satisfaction with the exercise and urged voters to be calm.

It was gathered that in Giwa Local government, communities of predominantly farmers, card readers rejected the fingers of men but accepted those of women. Experts attributed the problem to the possibility of the thumbs of the male farmers to have been coarse and difficult for the card readers to function well.

The card readers also failed in Idon ward, Kajuru LGA of Kaduna state, it was gathered.

While the Deputy Governor of the state, Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga, was accredited at 9:03am after he joined the queue, the Interim Chairman, Jaba Local government Alex Guruza could not be accredited. His card reader failed after 20 times of trial.

Kaduna State APC gubernatorial candidate, Malam Nasiru El-rufai, also secured his accreditation at his Ungwar Sarki ward at about 10pm. He urged voters to be calm as they went about voting.

There has been no report of security breach in the state.
