Outcome Of Presidential Election Wouldn't Affect Our Vote For Okowa/Utuaro, Say Group
The National Coordinator of Niger Delta Peace Ambassadors, Chief Jackson Towei Tortor has said that the outcome of the presidential election won by APC’s General Muhammadu Buhari wouldn’t discourage his group from voting the ruling People Democratic Party in the April 11 governorship election in Delta state.
Speaking to newsmen over the weekend, Chief Tortor said that his group have been in the vanguard of grassroot mobilization for Okowa/Utuaro’s ticket, particularly in the riverine communities in the state and wouldn’t stop now from voting the party.
According to him, Okowa/Utuaro’s ticket is a must for the state saying; “as a grassroot mobilization network and as a group we are making sure that our people run in one direction.
“Come April 11, our over 5000 supporters from all the riverine communities in Delta state would troop out enmass to vote for Okowa.
“So I can assure you that the crowd at the rallies would translate to vote because grassroot support is the strongest you can get.
“Once the people from the villages are supporting you, you are good to go. Elections are done in the local communities, at the ward level and not on the pages of newspaper, television or the platform of the social media.
“You have seen PDP embarked on its ward-to-ward campaign, house-to-house enlightenment campaign and all that to garner more support for Okowa at the state level in Delta state.
“The April 11 election would be a work over for Okowa because he and his running mate are grassroot mobilizers. They are the people’s choice for the election and a combination of Okowa/Utuaro was the best thing the PDP have done for itself.
He however expressed optimism that the solid foundation already laid by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan would enhances PDP chances during the election saying that the Uduaghan’s legacies would sway the votes in favour of the PDP.
While giving kudos to Governor Uduaghan for consolidating on the legacy of his predecessor and also built new infrastructures across the state, Tortor said that a vote for Okowa/Utuaro would bring prosperity to Deltans.
