EU explores renewable energy partnership with geometric power

The European Union (EU) has expressed interest in partnering with Geometric Power to enhance renewable energy development in Nigeria.
Speaking during a visit to the Geometric Power plant in Aba on 13 February, the EU’s Head of Cooperation and Projects, Bassimo Deluca, highlighted the potential for collaboration in sustainable power generation.
“We hope to see a catalytic partnership between our team and Geometric Power, especially in the area of renewable energy, which is of great importance to us,” Deluca said.
Accompanying the EU delegation, Abia State Governor Alex Otti commended Geometric Power for providing stable electricity to businesses and residents in its distribution area.
“I am happy to see the good work Geometric Power is doing, particularly in supporting businesses that require uninterrupted power supply to thrive,” Otti said.

Abia State Commissioner for Power, Engr. Ikechukwu Monday, also praised Aba Power for its role in improving electricity supply and hinted at potential government support for metering infrastructure.
“We are looking forward to exploring how we can support Aba Power in metering, ensuring that more customers have access to prepaid meters,” he stated.
Managing Director of Aba Power, Barr. Ugochukwu Opiegbe, who represented Geometric Power Chairman Prof. Bart Nnaji, welcomed the EU delegation and acknowledged the state government’s efforts in securing a reliable gas supply for the Aba Integrated Power Project.
“We are keen on diversifying our energy mix to include cleaner sources such as solar, biofuels, and other renewable alternatives in the near future,” Opiegbe said.
During the visit, Aaron Uzodike, Chairman of the Abia State House Committee on Power, praised Governor Otti’s commitment to infrastructure development and acknowledged the EU’s interest in advancing the state’s energy sector.
The visit concluded with Geometric Power officials leading the EU delegation on a tour of the power plant.
This engagement highlights Geometric Power’s growing role in Nigeria’s energy transition and its potential as a key player in the country’s renewable energy landscape.
