The Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) has expelled some members over anti-union activities.
This was disclosed by the President of the union, Comrade Chris Okonkwo during a press conference with journalists in Lagos, on Monday.
According to the union, “our association, has received another evidence of crass illiteracy, greed for power and recklessness of some poor performing and crooked officers of the association, who elevated to conspiracy recently.
Comrade Okonkwo noted that all efforts made by the Leadership to redirect them from their wrong path, failed, after the parties involved, rejected the move.”
Speaking further on the decision of the National Executive Committee, he said “NEC reminisced on need for discipline and order in a Labour Union and endorsed steps taken so far that allowed for reconciliation until later affront.
“NEC specifically upheld the indefinite suspension imposed on the offending 10 NEC members by the Tribunal and further expelled (suspension from office and membership) them from SSAEAC for defiance of the second meeting. They are consequently banned from SSAEAC offices and meetings/functions.”
“NEC stated that it was unfortunate that the 10 suspended NEC members would declare a purported impeachment (not known to our Constitution) of the President General for the offense they committed without remorse.”
The union noted that NEC consequently affirmed its faith and trust in the leadership of the President General, Engr. Dr. Chris Okonkwo, who has served the Association with enormous sacrifice at personal risk.
SSAEAC boss explained that on June 2, 2021, after reviewing the planned 2021 National Delegates Conference (NDC) as contained in the Committee’s report; posted a slight adjustment on the SSAEAC NEC platform in order to inform the Council members on the latest development based on the reactions of some members.
“Pertinent amongst the postings and possibly the core of the grievances was the proposition from the NDC Planning Committee to tentatively shift the NDC hosting venue from its initial venue to Abuja to avert possible security breach.
“NEC called on all loyal members to note the expulsion of the 10 NEC members to ensure they don’t interfere with SSAEAC matters onwards.”
