Aisha Buhari is an uplifting, unifying symbol – Tinubu

Bola Tinubu, the leader of the All Progressives Congress, claims that Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the President’s wife, is a voice of conscience calling politicians to be better people.

Mrs Buhari, he said, played an active role in both the 2015 and 2019 elections and has continued to enrich President Muhammadu Buhari’s (retd.) regime with her contributions.

This was confirmed by Tinubu on Thursday during the public presentation of Mrs. Aisha’s biography at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Dr. Hajo Sani, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administration and Women Affairs, wrote the book “Aisha Buhari: Being Different.”

On Thursday, Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, presided over the case.

“No one can fairly doubt the position of a First Lady any longer, given the First Lady’s achievement,” he said. Remember that there were those who argued that the First Lady has no official role in the constitution. Their worries have been put to rest thanks to Mrs. Dr. Aisha Buhari.

“First lady has played an uplifting, unifying role both in symbol and substance. She has been a voice of conscience calling us to be of our better self for the good of the nation and for the vulnerable among us.”

Buhari, who is currently in London for a routine medical check-up, will be unable to attend the event, which is expected to draw dignitaries from all over the world.

Prof Ibrahim Gambari, his Chief of Staff, is, however, representing him.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo, are currently in attendance.

Mrs Folorunsho Alakija, the Special Guest of Honour, and the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, are also in attendance.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; and the Egbere Emere Okori Eleme, King Appolus Chu, are the royal fathers of the day.
