Coronavirus: Marriage ceremonies limited to 50 persons in Plateau

The Plateau State government has limited marriage ceremonies in the State to not more than fifty persons in view of the coronavirus pandemic that is ravaging the world.

This was disclosed on Friday in Jos, during a press briefing by the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Prof. Danladi Atu.

According to him: “Marriages and burials should be restricted to family members and crowd of not more than 50 persons with 2 meters spacing”.
The SGS said the directive is imperative if the State will make any gain in containing the scourge, adding that anniversaries and cultural festivals are also suspended.
“All public, private and tertiary institutions in the State should be closed with immediate effect. Churches and Mosques must reduce congregation with a spacing of two meters intervals and to provide running water, soap and sanitizers at their entrances.
“Motor parks, hotels, markets and super markets should also maintain two meters spacing and provide running water, soap and sanitizers at their entrances. All crowded social gatherings to be avoided, and face mask usage is encouraged”, he said.
Atu also added that all taxi, buses and tri-cycles, must have hand sanitizers.
He appealed to citizens to adhere strictly to instructions provided by government if the spread of the virus must be contained.
“Coronavirus is a serious pandemic and will not be treated with kid gloves”, Atu said.
