STDD reiterates commitment to speedy rehabilitation of roads in Satellite towns

Disturbed by series of complaints from residents of the Federal Capital Territory on the deplorable state of roads in the satellite communities, the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) of the FCTA has reiterated its commitment to ensure speedy rehabilitation of all rural roads within the Territory, especially those in rural areas.
The Director STDD, Engineer Felix Nwankwo gave the assurance recently during a tour to some rural roads in the nation’s capital.
While appealing for calm from all residents especially those affected by floods particularly in Mashafa, Gudupe, Bamboyi and Dankubo villages of Bwari Area Council who recently called for intervention on their roads, he disclosed that some of the affected roads are currently at different stages of either procurement or undergoing technical bids to ensure rapid inclusive development in the Territory.
He explained that as soon as there is an approval on this then, the financial bid will be completed leading to the award of contract immediately.
The Director further reiterated that the FCT Administration is very much aware of the issues on the Mpape- Mashafa road and according to him a new design of the road has been done which includes 3 numbers of 3 by 3 box culverts replacing the existing pipe culverts (multiple) which will serve the people better.
Nwankwo reassured that the Chairman of Bwari Area Council and the rest of the Communities that Government is doing everything possible in ensuring that all dilapidated roads in the FCT are fixed on time adding that funds will soon be available to execute the projects.
He further added that the Administration is fully aware of the importance of all road projects, and need to get them fixed as soon as possible.
