2019: UPP will take over Kano, says party chairman

The Kano State Chairman, United Progressive Party (UPP) Alh. Sabo Umar Abdullahi, has expressed optimism that his party would emerge victorious in the state in the forthcoming 2019 general elections, just few months away.

Abdullahi made this known to news men in Kano shortly after the party’s state congress during which 26 state Executive Committee members were elected with Sabo Umar Abdullahi as the new party chairman.

According to him, the party has put in place all necessary measures that would displace the Ruling, All Progressive Party (APC) in the state, which has broken down into many factions and have lost focus as a result of internal wrangling.

“Our Party has all it takes to measure up with the ruling party, and we have put in place measures that would kick out the APC from office in the state. At the moment, we don’t even know which party is running the affairs of the state due to factions and crisis within the APC”

He stressed that, unlike the two major political parties, PDP and APC, the UPP is one solid entity free of factions and with the major goal of making Nigeria a better place for its citizens, by adopting New Democratic principles and policies that would make the state and country attend a new level of greatness.

Sabo, further revealed that, the party has taken time to ensure that only people with credible records vie for political seats in the state as this, he said would go a long way to ensure victory.

“We have done our best to ensure that those contending for any political seats in our great party are people with good records, people with good antecedents, those the people can trust.

“The time is past when Nigerians, vote political parties, we are doing our best to enlighten the public on the need for electorate to vote persons with credibility irrespective of his political party.

“We must begin to look into other political parties outside of PDP and APC and elect into office, individuals, we can trust with our mandates,” he said.

He called on all the newly elected officials to work together in harmony for the greater growth of the party and state at large.

On his part, the Chairman of the Congress Committee responsible for the elections, Abubakar Mukthar Garba, described the conduct of the election as peaceful and as a sign that the members of the party share a common goal which is, saving the state from the present government which has divided against itself.

He called on the good people of the state to support the party by coming out in mass to cast their votes for their candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
