Deji Doherty set for political ventures again?

Some of the major things that separate men from the boys in most successful endeavors are courage, determination, hard work, discipline and sincerity of purpose.
These are clearly attributes Lagos politician, Deji Doherty exudes. No doubt his family background, as the son of a highly successful medical doctor father and quiet but strict mum greatly, shaped his upbringing.
Though a trained successful engineer, Doherty has become a politician of note due to his invaluable roles in the activities of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the South-West, especially Lagos.
This is not surprising as the Doherty’s hail from the Doherty dynasty of Popo Aguda, Lagos, and highly respected family known for good conduct and integrity over the years.
From a lowly position, Doherty, who shares his family traits, has his hands in many pies ranging from engineering, hospitality, logistics, transportation, telecommunications, auto business and more.
Though he had taken a shot at governorship of Lagos State at different times, he was perhaps thinking of further growing his businesses, but it’s like people will not let him be.
So strong, it was learnt, has been the pressure from different quarters on Doherty urging him to run for the governorship of Lagos State in the last six months.
While they agree that the incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has done well so far, the consensus of the multitude asking him to run is that Lagos needs somebody to right the wrongs in the state, against the backdrop of hardships occasioned by harsh policies and the failure of the authorities to impact on the fortunes of Lagosians.
The lobbyists are of the conviction that the businessman can give Lagosians a new lease of life which will have a multiplier effect across board.
The good news is that the PDP strongman has acceded to their request, even as many have promised to take the gospel to the nooks and crannies of the state.
Those close to Doherty Daily Times learnt insist his priority is to focus on policies that will impact on human capital development and invest massively in health services and education to bridge the gap across the state.
