Okon rues Aiteo Cup draw against Edo Queens

Rivers Angels head coach, Edwin Okon has described as the worst game of football his side goalless draw against top-flights, Edo Queens.

The Jewel of Rivers were forced to 0-0 draw by the Benin City landladies in Wednesday’s Aiteo Cup first leg quarterfinals clash in Port Harcourt.

Okon said his side will make amend in the reverse fixture in Benin City to ensure they get the desired result to advance to the semis.

“Wednesday was a bad day for us and the worst game we have played so far in recent time.

“Although the players had considered the quarterfinals clash against Edo Queens as almost a walk-over but I was quick to correct them that no FA Cup is ever a walk-over.

“I think they are wiser right now after the goalless draw and have vowed to make amend in Benin on Saturday to win the qualification ticket.

“Even as that we created several chances but were not able to convert any of the chances with the ball severally hitting the woodwork.

“Edo Queens were not fantastic on matchday as they sat back to defend throughout the encounter.

“We dominated play but could not find the back of the net that is certain to change when we face the side in Benin City.

“We were under pressure in Port Harcourt the reverse will be the case in Benin City as the home side will be the one under pressure before their teeming fans and it will give us the leverage to play our normal game.

“So I tell our teeming fans to be calm and not to entertain any fear as we will get it right and secure qualification to the semifinals,” Okon assures.
