Poland's Justice Minister Resigns over Gun Permit

Poland’s Justice Minister Cezary Grabarczyk on Wednesday stepped down over doubts concerning the legality of his gun permit, Yahoo News reports

Cezary Grabarczyk, 55, wound up in the crosshairs of the opposition and the media after reports surfaced last week that he only took the written test to obtain his permit from a police unit in the central city of Lodz, which is already under investigation for similar cases.

He is the first minister to leave the Cabinet of Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz, which took office in September and will be submitted to voter assessment in parliamentary elections scheduled in the fall.

Grabarczyk said he is innocent, but was resigning because there “should be no doubts concerning the justice minister.”
