Orishaleye takes over as NAAE boss

Five years after and for justice to prevail, Engr Isaac Orishaleye, who led the National Association of Air Traffic Engineers (NAAE), which was unceremoniously booted out of office by the then Management of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) in 2013, has been asked to step in as the president of NAAE.

A reconciliatory committee headed by Mojisola Dokun has returned the instrument of office to the 2012 executive.

Consequently, the 2012 national executive led by Orishaleye is expected to conduct a fresh election on or before the end of May, 2017.

The essence of this arrangement is to correct the anomaly and interference which led to the sack of the executive, their suspension and eventual sack by NAMA.
To give bite to the arrangement, the reconciliatory committee chairman, Dokun who is

General Manager, Terrestrial Services, NAMA, in a letter to both the ‘cheated’ 2012 executive and the caretaker committee led by Ebenezer Makanjuola

.“We want to bring to your notice that the reconciliatory committee has mandated the caretaker committee to hand over to the 2012 executive of NAAE who were unjustly removed from office and they are to organise and consequently conduct a credible, fair and free election and in addition they should ensure that the key elective positions are fairly distributed among the affiliated organisation”

Among the things handed over to Orishaleye included Orishaleye, conference tags, N3, 158, 615.00 cash balance First Bank, dollar cash balance of $179.71, another cash balance of N152, 197.00 with United Bank for Africa and many other instrument of office.

Speaking to our correspondent, Orishaleye, relived his experience and how many of his executive members were booted out of office in a most bizarre circumstance.

His words, “We accepted responsibility for every action we took then but today, we want to thank the management of NAMA, the workforce. This happened because of the knowledge many of the people did not have by championing that we should be sacked by the management.”

“We want to also thank Director, Safety Electronics and Engineering Services (DSEES), NAMA, Engr Umar Farouk Ahmed wants to only ensure that the right things are done by righting the wrong of the past.”

He said all Farouk Ahmed wants is to bring back the lost glory of NAAE and to see that the association grows.

“My executive went through a difficult period. I was queried, suspended and sacked. Later my salary and promotion were cancelled. The General Secretary was taken out of Lagos; some of my other executives were transferred. Deputy National President, Anukwu Chinedu

Reginald was moved to Akure, Azeez Akinola Olabisi was the treasurer by then. The Finance Secretary was moved to Bauchi from Jos. Because of the pressure on us, many of our members resorted to fate that one day, justice would prevail. And for almost one year, they held on that justice and truth would prevail.”

Confirming the development, Engr. Farouk Ahmed said it was unfortunate that some people who did not mean well for NAAE were used to destroy the association.

“It is unfortunate that the former Managing Director of NAMA, Nnamdi Udoh used some engineers to destroy NAAE. I am happy that the caretaker committee has done so well to right the wrong and to ensure justice so that this would not serve as a precedent which would make people to revel in impunity. I am happy that the duly elected executive has been restored to office.”
