Copenhagen charged by UEFA over spectacular firework display

The Danish champions are set to be punished after their fans unveiled a series of red pyrotechnics prior to kick-off on their visit to the King Power Stadium

FC Copenhagen supporters impressed viewers across Europe with their firework show ahead of their Champions League clash with Leicester City, but it has landed them in hot water with UEFA.

Ahead of kick-off the travelling fans at the King Power Stadium unveiled a sea of red pyrotechnics to accompany the competition’s anthem as the players took to the field.

But the Danish champions have now been charged by the governing body for breaching Article 16 (2), which relates to the setting off of fireworks inside the stadium.

A statement from UEFA confirmed the case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on November 17.
