61 Year old Man nabbed with fresh woman’s head, hands, heart in Badagry

A man identified as Toafeek Hassan, has been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly slaughtering a woman, whose identity is yet to be verified, at Ikoga in the Badagry area of the state.

The 61-year-old who is a landlord in the said community was alleged to have carried out the dastardly act at about 4pm on Sunday, March 19, 2017.

He was however arrested after he attempted to smuggle the head, hands and heart of his victim to his ready buyers.
According to a police source, at the Area K police command Badagry, Toafeek raised suspicion when the bag with which he had conveyed the body parts was dripping blood.

Neighbours were uncomfortable and insisted they see the content of the bag before he carried it away.

The officer said: “In his confessional statement, Toafeek alleged that killing the woman was not his idea. He claimed one Muslim cleric from Sango-Otta had brought the woman to one Baba Ronke in Badagry (an herbalist). He said the woman had come to seek spiritual help for her many troubles which the Muslim cleric had promised to take her to a senior cleric who will carry out some spiritual exercise for her.

“He said it was at the point when they got to Ikoga that they brought her to the river side where he (Toafeek) was already waiting for them. They handed her over to him and went somewhere else to wait while he did his own part of the job.

“He also said that he asked the woman where she came from and she said she came from Ojodu Berger. He claimed he felt pity for the woman but could not help the situation.

“Toafeek said the head, hands and heart he was carrying were for the Muslim cleric who uses the human parts for charm. He also maintained it was his second time slaughtering a human for the duo.”

The officer revealed that the first case which was more of an allegation and lacked evidence was dropped by the family of the victim because there was no proof of the Muslim cleric being responsible for the sudden disappearance of the victim then.

The source also said that it was the neighbours who had caught him that handed him over to the Area K police command for further investigation.

His two accomplices have however fled on hearing Toafeek’s arrest.

Confirming the story via text message, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole said, “There was an incident of the abovementioned case and investigation is ongoing.”
