6 die 12 injured along Lokoja – Okene road.

A ghastly motor accident which occurred on Monday at Osara village along Lokoja. – Okene road in Kogi state has claimed lives of six persons while twelve others sustained serious injuries

Eye witnesses stated that the accident involved three vehicles, a truck and two passenger vehicles, a Toyota Hiace bus and a Nissan Premera car.

The multiple accident occurred as a result of a head on collision between the truck and the Toyota bus,while a fast moving Nissan Premera car rammed into them.

Volunteers from the village quickly mobilized for rescue operation before the arrival of the officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

Confirming the story, the Kogi state sector commander of the FRSC, Mr. Segun Martins, said that six of the victims died on the spot, while 12 others were critically injured.

Martins however identified the three vehicles involved in the accident as a truck with registration number Kano XF 156 FGE Toyota Hiace with number Kano Xc 581DGE and a Nissan Primera passengers car number Kogi KPF 369AA.

According to the sector Commander the injured were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Lokoja for treatment while the remains of the dead persons were deposited at mortuary of the same hospital.

Martins also stated the obstruction on the road created by the accident has been cleared to allow free flow of traffic on the busy high way.

He called on Nigerians to embrace the culture of trusting and praying for those in leadership positions and where possible become agents of change through positive contributions and showing unwavering faith and trust in government promises to turn around the economy and restore the pride of Nigeria as destination for culture and tourism.
