At 47th birthday, OPC leader charges Nigerians on self confidence

The National Coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams has challenged Nigerians to be focused and dedicated to their course if they are convinced that they are on the right track, assuring that with diligence, focus and consistency, God will always bless their pursuit.
Adams who gave the charge during the celebration of his 47th birthday in the Ikeja area of Lagos at the weekend, said he was giving the advice from his personal experience, knowing that it was consistency to his course that took him to the level he is today, knowing that no matter what you do their will always be challenges along the way.
The OPC leader, who noted as one of the themes of the birthday “Do not regret growing older, it’s a privilege denied to many” added that if anyone is to focus on the challenges that may come his way on the course to the top of one’s ambition, such person may not achieve the set goals.
He said, “I will say that anything you are doing you should continue with it, no matter the criticisms, no matter the number of people ready to victimise you, prepare your mind to continue if you are sure that you are on the right path, at the end of the day God will reward you, that is the example of what you are seing here today, it is the reward of my service to the people, the Yoruba people and Nigerians.
“If you see the people here they cut across the different parts of Nigeria, they are not only Yoruba people, that will show you that even though I am fighting for Yoruba people I still have the privilege to put Nigeria on the path of justice,” he said.
While thanking those who came out in their number to honour him, including prominent traditional rulers, politicians, human rights activists among others, some of whom include the Onigbaye of Igbaye Land, Oba Okunnola Oni, representative of the Alaafin of Oyo, Are Ayodotun Oyelakin, Oba Sikiru Adeniyi Egbeyemi.
Also including Niger Delta activists Com. Tony Uranta, Comrade Joseph Evah, human rights activists couple, Yinka and Dr Joe Odumakin, Prof Banji Akintoye, NADECO chieftain, Dr. Amos Akingba, Sheik Ahmed Tijani, wife of music maestro and former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. (Mrs) Ajoke Adegeye among others, including a delegation from his Arigidi-Akoko, home town, Adams expressed his joy at the honour done him.
He said, “I am happy, I am highly delighted, especially with the turn out and the caliber of personalities at this event. It is not easy for people to celebrate birthdays of 47 years, I have to give glory to God for giving me that grace. I pray that God will give me more years to serve the people.
“I want to thank all those who came out today to honour me, God will honour them, everything they want in life God will provide for them,” he prayed.
The colourful event for the Arigidi-Akoko, Ondo State born culture enthusiast, who is also the Chief Promoter, Olokun Festival Foundation, which also had many actors from the Nigerian movies industry, also had side attraction from traditional dancers from Arigidi, with music supplied by fuji sensation, Pasuma.
