44th Miss Nigeria unveils top 37, announces popular voting process

The road to crowning the 44th Miss Nigeria is well underway, as the 37 semi-finalists have been revealed, and the organizers have invited the general public to participate in the selection of the 18 finalists who will attend the Miss Nigeria Bootcamp.
The panel of judges were entrusted with choosing 37 females who are exceptionally attractive, enthusiastic about Nigeria and the girl-child, and whose ideals coincide with those of the legendary Miss Nigeria Organization, among hundreds of applications received. The semi-final auditions were place at Landmark Beach in Lagos’ Island Breeze Restaurant and Lounge.
Bolanle Olukanni (TV personality/talk show host), Paul Ukonu (celebrity photographer), Onyeka Michael Ugwu (former beauty queen/medical aesthetician), and Ezinne Akudo (former beauty queen/medical aesthetician) were among the judges that screened the contestants (creative director, Miss Nigeria).
Each of the Top 37 contenders’ audition videos have been posted to the Miss Nigeria official Instagram account. “The popular votes will account for 20% of the total points that will get the contenders to qualify for the final round,” said Miss Nigeria creative director Ezinne Akudo, who was also the 38th Miss Nigeria.

The organizers added a fresh surprise to the tournament on Wednesday morning, revealing three wild card participants chosen from a pool of fan nominations on social media. “The 37 semi-finalists and three wild cards will need as many people to repost, like, and comment on their videos on social media as possible.” “The video with the most views receives a higher ranking, which increases their chances of making it to the bootcamp and grand finale,” Akudo explained.
Miss Nigeria is an annual beauty pageant that celebrates the excellent qualities of Nigerian women. It was founded in 1957 with the theme “Empowering Women Beyond Beauty.” The winner exemplifies the attributes of a role model for young women in the country.
